We are seeking a passionate senior structural engineer, to join our dynamic team in our North Sydney office!. You will plan and conduct engineering projects of a complex nature to meet client requirements.

You’ll play a critical role in designing, analysing, and ensuring the safety and stability of a wide range of structures. Your expertise will help ensure these structures can withstand everyday loads and extreme forces like wind, earthquakes, and weather—without compromising strength or integrity.

Job Description

In this role, you will:

Structural Engineering

  • Applies a deep understanding of engineering principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems.
  • Produces designs, documentation, specifications, fee proposals, reports and other documentation to meet client requirements for projects of reasonable complexity.
  • Manages small design team of structural engineers and drafters including planning allocation of resources (including staff) and checking of work.
  • Preparation of client reports.

Project management and compliance

  • Assumes responsibility for the management of small, medium and some large-scale projects including duties such as pricing, tender submissions, technical documentation, project scheduling and meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable Codes and policies– e.g. WHS practices and Quality Assurance.
  • Check structural engineers’ work, and any other tasks as reasonably requested by a manager or a director.

Who are we looking for:

This role is ideally suited to someone with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Member of Engineers Australia, CPEng/NER
  • At least 5 /6 years’ experience in a similar role with timber experience is very desirable.
  • Software: Etabs, Spacegass, RAM, RAPT
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Site experience highly desirable – at least one building project with site attendance.
  • Ability to prioritise incoming work appropriately
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem solving/analytical skills
